Let's walk around and feel the vibes.

Plenty of artisanal shops with curious things to warrant a visit. It was an ecletic mix of newly old and actual vintage shops in the same vicinity.

coconut matcha (the literal version)

I had mistaken coconut matcha for matcha with coconut water. It was matcha water with coconut flesh. It was a nice healthy respite from the afternoon heat.

We walked to Yaowarat for lunch.

in Chinatown

Hua Seng Hong

We went into an old school establishment and was greeted by air-conditioning. That was pure bliss. We placed our orders of some dim sum and signature dishes.

fish roe shrimp dumpling

prawn shu mai

Loved the shrimps in the dim sum but not a fan of the mushy skin of the har gao though.

prawn vermicelli, goose webs

goose web

The vermicelli had strong flavours and delivered that punch upon first bite. Yums! The braise goose web was lovely too.

sweetened chrysanthemum tea (cold)

After our meal, I went to the washroom and when I returned to the table, Ivan said they ordered wan ton noodles. I was like, no lah... we finished our meal liao when suddenly, that bowl of noodles was placed on the table. Hehe, just one bowl to try. Ok lah.

Nai Ek Roll Noodles

Next round was at this kway jub place which was within walking distance from the first restaurant.

menu

While we were queueing up to enter, we had to also place our orders first and make payment. After which, was just to await for a table to become available.

kway jub one pax

my portion

The kway jub soup was expectedly peppery but less spicy than the one in Chiang Mai. It was comforting even in a hot weather. The crispy pork was nice too.

kao kha moo (trotters rice)

The trotters rice was simple with just a deliciously braised trotter, rice and some pickled vegetables. Loved the combo and the pork didn't have any strong gamey taste.

The prices were reasonable too.
