[Kuala Lumpur] Let's Go Gai Gai @ 茨厂街 Petaling Street Chinatown [Part 2]

For breakfast, we had it at Tang City Food Court. Find a place to sit and the drinks stall person would come to ask for your drinks order. Pay when the drinks or food is served.

The beef soup stall is towards the back left corner of the food court. They also have fish head noodles as the other option.

The beef soup was clear broth and very tasty. The beef parts included beef slices, tendon, beef ball and all were delicious and tender. It was a happy meal.

Mom prefers the milder soupy stuffs like fishball/porkball noodles.

Char kway was ok for it had plenty of ingredients including cockles.

For dinner, we went to try the shop that shares the same space as Kam Kee Chicken Rice. Day time, one gets to eat chicken rice and night time, one can get zichar from a different operator.

We ordered their signature claypot lou shi fun (silver pin noodle) and decided to try Tom Yum fried rice.

The medium portion of the noodles and fried rice was smaller when compared to its neighbour. The food here is stronger in terms of seasoning, and thus, no wonder the lady boss asked us if we could like some beer to go along with the dishes.

The claypot noodles was served bubbling and one was supposed to mix the ingredients together. It doesn't look like much but flavourful. I enjoyed each scoop of the noodles, especially with the sambal chili. Tom Yum fried rice was decent but the tom yum flavours were pretty muted and not spicy.  There was one or two good sized prawn in there.

I quite liked the fried chicken. Freshly fried to crispy perfection and well marinated. Yums! But my family felt it was too salty.

[Travel Melbourne] NY Style Brekkie @ Bowery To Williamsburg

It was breakfast and decided to grab breakfast outside before heading towards the airport for our flight back to SG. Drove out, parked and walked about 10 mins to our destination.

us waiting to be seated

Indoor was all occupied and staff informed that they will be right back to seat us outdoor.

I think here would be the closest I'd ever get to experience a New York style diner and food. Do note that there's surcharge during weekends as well as Public Holidays.

Hot chocolate seemed to be my favourite drink throughout this trip and yes, I ordered their Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate to try.

I was wondering if the 'peanut butter' in the drink was that separate piece of Reese chocolate served with the drink... Hahaa, turns out to be false alarm as the peanut butter taste in the hot chocolate became more apparent after a few sips. Lovely.

I had the Omelette and Pastrami Roll which I think is probably off-menu by now, as I couldn't find it in their current online menu.

Omelette and Pastrami Roll @AUD20

I forgot that the food would be in the typical US sizes. Omelette served thick, loaded with lots of pastrami beef brisket, and saucy from the tomato relish and oozing cheese. Basically it was a messy eat but tasted good! If you're a small eater, can consider sharing with a friend/partner.

Breakfast was heavy and rich. What an experience!

Payment at the cashier inside the restaurant and washroom is available inside as well.

Staff were friendly and efficient.

[Travel Melbourne] The Pancake Parlour Malvern East

Shermaine selected this breakfast spot for us. Usually we'd be having brekkie at our Airbnb but today, let's eat out!

We reached at about 930am so the place was practically empty except for us!

The outer compound of the place was huge! And when we entered the restaurant, it has a nice classic vibes and spacious.

For breakfast, we seemed to have opted more for the savouries.

Eggs Benedict @AUD27.90

Tabriz Crepes @AUD28.90

Breakfast was nice and leisurely but I think they had forgotten some of our drinks, especially the hot chocolates which didn't arrive until almost at the end of our meal.

I had the marshmallow hot chocolate which was nicely sweet, warm and delicious. Yummy end to our breakfast. Thank you to the group for patiently waiting till both Shermaine and myself finished our hot drinks!

[Busan] Fishcake Feast @ Goreasa 고래사어묵 해운대점 Haeundae

This place is like 5 minutes walk from my hotel, so we went there a few times to buy our snacks. They have dine-in area in the shop.

shopfront

fish cake with prawn

all sorts of fish cake variety

The shop also sells a few types of noodles, so one could order the mains from the counter and add-on the fish cakes as side dishes.

The limited or seasonal fishcake is usually at the counter, so do walk around to scout for which ever that catches your fancy. But be careful not to go overboard. For me, I think my max per seating was just 4 fish cakes.

my breakfast

After you had purchased the food, go right in and get yourself a seat at the communal table. There is a microwave oven with instructions on how to heat up the fish cakes. There is also a cabinet that stores small cups for the hot soup. This soup was a nice accompaniment for the fish cakes. Tasty too!

heavy breakfast

The price for the fish cakes varies and those with premium ingredients such as whole prawn or abalone (yes they have this as well!) will be more costly as expected.

Pretty cool experience and it is a pilgrimage of sorts to tourist to come to at least one of these shops try.

[Jeju] Octopus Noodles 오빠네 왕만두 문어라면 @ Dongmun Traditional Market 제주동문시장

Although we know we were headed to Dongmun Traditional Market, I didn't do any research prior on what food to eat there. Tracy said there's an octopus ramyeon shop, so we went round trying to look for it without realising that we had passed by it before...

let's walk walk

tangerines and more tangerines!

At last, we looked up at the banner of one of the shop that we had passed by earlier, and voila! 'Octopus Noodle' !

our breakfast stop

The shop front seemed to be selling steamed mandus and steamed cakes. We enquired from the lone person in the shop if we could get breakfast there and he said yes.

The place was a small and functional. We were the only customers at that time. The interior felt like it was frozen somewhat in the passage of time.

The information that Tracy got, was from this post. I wanted the mandus so we enquired from the uncle on how many pieces were there in one serving. He said 5. So I asked if we could do a mix and he said ok.

mandu (5 pieces) ₩5000 - 3 pork and spring onions, 2 kimchi

kimchi mandu

The steamed dumplings were lovely. Both were pretty flavourful. Complimentary water is available. Self-service and get your own cup from the water dispenser in the shop.

side dish for the noodles

Though we were only having instant noodles, the shop still serves complimentary kimchi and pickled radish as side dish.

octopus ramyeon @₩12000

The broth for the octopus noodles was rather spicy. The octopus were cut up into small pieces and I quite liked the texture. Chewy but not tough.

pork ramyeon @₩11000

We ordered the pork noodles, and the broth, noodles for this was different from the octopus ramyeon. There were generous pieces of pork in the noodles. However, the meat was lean and a tad tough. It also had a stronger porky smell.

Both bowls had similar toppings of bean sprouts and onion slices.

The uncle was friendly and since we were the only customers, he talked to us a little bit to find out where we were from, and how did we find the shop.
