[Tasting] Chef's Christmas Tasting Menu @ Grissini Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel (4 Dec 2020 to 1 Jan 2021)

For the festivities this year, why not indulge in a Chef's Christmas Tasting Menu? Each course in this set menu from Grissini was a treat, for the visuals as well as for the tastebuds.

One could opt for the 8-course, or the 6-course menu at $98++ or $78++ per pax. Book 3-days in advance to enjoy 10% off.

Come during dinner time and guests will be served with complimentary bread basket comprising of foccacia and multigrain breads. A trolley of olive oils and balsamic will presented to diners, and one could choose the dip of their liking. I had the house-infused olive oil with black balsamic.

I enjoyed the warm breads and preferred the soft foccacia. The first course was served fairly quickly. One of the item from the 8-course menu is the Fresh Oysters, served in trios (yay!). The oysters were good.  Served in red wine vinaigrette, shallot, chive and lemon juice. High tangy.

Fresh Oysters (part of the 8-course menu)

plump, juicy and saucy, no need for extra lemon

Next, we had the tuna tartare. I had two variations of tuna tartare from Grissini before and this would be version 3.0. This version was the daintiest of all.

Tuna Tartare

Not sure if I should mixed the tuna tartare but did that anyway. End result, was a genteel taste and loved the extra crunchy savoury lift that the croutons provided.

lovely starters

Next came the hot starter; Pumpkin soup. Sweetness was prominent, and liked the addition of orange in it. If you are worried if the soup will make you very full, the verdict was, it didn't.

Then, we had the Eggplant Parmigiana. Now, I've had this before and looking forward to enjoying it again in this tasting menu.

Eggplant Parmigiana

Look at that. So so cute. Was fairly impressed when I started on the eggplant parmigiana. Maybe because of its smaller portion, the parmesan and mozzarella cheese became more pronounced. Loved the chewy, smokiness from the cheese and the softer texture of the aubergine.

For the next course, Gamberi e Caviale was served, on a bed of orange celeriac purée.  This is part of the 8-course menu. Enjoyable and finished in a few bites.

Before we dived into the main course, we were served the Lime Sorbet.

For main course, one could opt for the Josper-grilled Ribeye Steak or Kurobuta Pork Collar. I'd choose Ribeye Steak. Loved the smokey flavours and texture of the beef.

gorgeous

Had a burst of flavours with the Kurobuta Pork Collar too and that's when I happen to chew on a piece with fats. So good!

Kurobuta Pork Collar

go for the ones with fatty bits

And for the finale, we must have dessert and we're getting baked Alaska. If you loved the baked Alaska version served at the alfresco dining, you will be impressed by this special version served as part of the Chef's Christmas Tasting Menu. Tableside service to flambe this dessert, so get your camera ready.

Had taken a look at the menu, and saw a new item that piqued my interest, the Cacciucco alla Livornese. A Livorno-style (Tuscan) fish/seafood stew. Perfect on a cool weather day. Imagine a warm stew, bread and a sip of wine. Savoured at a leisurely pace. The worries of the world, could wait another day.

Do try the Fettucine Al Gamberoni, which consist of housemade spinach fettucine, prawns, in white wine sauce. Have tried the fettucine from its Alfresco dining menu and it was so good!

And of course, there shall be dessert. Have not tried the 64% Chocolate Mousse IN Chocolate Sphere before but it sure looks pretty from the photo. This serves two, hence keep some tummy space for it!

Let's see what I've got from Grissini, one of my favourite F&B at Grand Copthorne Waterfront. To start, let's try the Burrata Pugliese. Ahhh, Puglia is Chef Mirko's hometown!

Burrata Pugliese @$19

Loved the fresh burrata with the heritage tomatoes and arugula. Mild, creamy and light to taste.

There's soup too. Mushroom veloute that had various types of mushrooms including button, porcini and oyster mushrooms. With a dash of parsley oil. It was lukewarm due to the long journey to reach my home, so it went into the microwave for a short while. The soup was tasty, hearty and thick!

Wild Mushroom Veloute @$11

Next, one must not forget to order the pizza from Grissini. An absolute favourite! Best if it was eaten right at the restaurant, but nevertheless, thankful to be able to enjoy this treat at home too. This time round, tried the Regina Margherita. It didn't look like it had a lot of mozzarella but boy, it was bubbling once the square went inside the toaster! Its crust was super thin and crunchy, and those toppings were such a joy to have! Lovely.

Regina Margherita @$19

Next up, given a choice of Norwegian Salmon and Roasted New Zealand Ribeye, what would be your choice?

I choose...both! Or rather, I shared both with my family. So half-and-half, it shall be! I must say, the price of the mains are really reasonable. Thick, slab of beautiful salmon for just $19? Wow!

Salmon @$19

The accompanying vegetables were delish! Those roasted baby potatoes, sauteed spinach, grilled cauliflower and asparagus were yums. The fish was cooked through though I'd prefer it to be slightly pink but its flavours were on point! Lovely oils too. Oh, and did I mention the roasted sweet tomatoes were literally bursting with flavours?

Roasted New Zealand Ribeye @$27

The vegetables sides for both the salmon and ribeye were the same. The beef portion was good and wow, the first few bites were unbelievably tender even though it was a long journey from Chef's kitchen to Yew Tee. I was impressed!

Roasted New Zealand Ribeye (half-portion)

'aint this pretty?

A good meal makes one feels pampered. Thank you Grand Copthorne Waterfront and Grissini, especially to Chef Mirko and team, and of course, Gilbert for arranging the takeaway/delivery service.

For dessert, I enjoyed Chef's Signature Tiramisu. Though I had it one day later, it was so good. Especially when I missed having dessert like this!

Chef's Signature Tiramisu
yummy!
so fast?!!

Order now and the meal comes with a complimentary care package consisting of a game to enjoy with family. Mine was five stones! You know, the traditional game. Here's a video to illustrate or read here.
