[Jeju] Breakfast at Naseong Suduri Bomal Tot Kalguksu 나성 수두리 보말톳 칼국수 @ Jungmun-Dong, Seogwipo

We decided to have noodles for breakfast for Day3. Went to this street in Jungmun-Dong and managed to park nearby.

let's grab some noodles

It seems to be a specialty noodles shop, specializing in small clams. The shop is managed by a lady and we just walked in and got ourselves seated at an empty table. It was rather busy in the morning when we dropped by around 10am.

Not knowing the portion size of noodles, I stopped the rest from ordering one bowl each. So we got ourselves 2 bowls of noodles and 1 bowl of porridge, plus sides of pork dumplings.

pork dumplings @₩8000

The porridge was rather healthy tasting and the least flavoured amongst the food that we ordered. Definitely needed some kimchi to perk it up.

The clams noodles was lovely with its seafood based flavours (anchovies, clams) and the texture of the noodles was the best in this one.

The strongest flavoured was the mushrooms noodles. So tasty! The noodles was slightly chewier here but overall, paired well with the broth and shitake mushrooms.

Dumplings was flavourful with porky taste. Smallish in size but huge in taste.

Overall, the portions of the noodles were good and we enjoyed the meal here. The lady managing the shop was busy but she did enquired where we are from. Overall, efficient service and no frills shop. Go for the kalguksu for its wholesome flavours.

Noodle Star K 누들스타 케이 @ 58 Tanjong Pagar Road

Was doing a staycation nearby at Amara, hence dropped by here for lunch. We were led to Level 2 of the shop.

Ordered the cold noodles, chicken noodles, tangsuyuk (because I insisted!) and gogi mandu (meat dumplings).

Side dishes are served once our order has been taken.

boiled beansprouts, pickled radish, sauce for mandu and kimchi

The kimchi here has a stronger fermented smell to it, hence am not used to this version. Taste wise was ok, quite appetizing.

The orders are served quickly. Pretty efficient!

Chicken Kalguksu 닭칼국수

soft, chewy noodles

Cold noodles are refreshing while the chicken kalguksu is more comforting. Both were nice.

Given a chance, I'd always want to try tangsuyuk from the various shops here. Have I found the one? Not yet, unfortunately. The criteria involves good batter, ratio of meat to batter, flavour, and sauce taste. Even in Busan, the portion given was impressive but the ratio of batter to meat was overwhelming with very little meat to taste.

At Noodle Star K, the tangsuyuk is kind of slim whereas other places seemed to go with the flatter rectangular slice. The batter wasn't crispy but still tasted nice when it was warm. The sauce was sweet but not overpowering.

The barley drinks here costs $3 per glass. Not sure if it is refillable. Noodles are priced at $16+ onwards.

We spent about $28 per pax for lunch.
