Jewel Cafe and Bar @ Rangoon Road

0 comments
Been there numerous times but mostly for drinks and light snacks. This time round, utilized The Entertainer App and got ourselves some mains to share. Of course, their all-day-long 1-for-1 drinks made it an even sweeter deal.

outdoor seats
let's start off with a glass of bubblies
It was a birthday treat, so I got myself some Southern Fried Chicken. The other plate was Beef Tenderloin pasta so that we could have something more substantial, in the form of some carbs.

Southern Fried Chicken

The pasta was rather bland though. Needed some more salt. Beef tenderloin was tender as we wanted it medium rare. Fried chicken was nicely fried with crispy skin albeit a tad oily. Liked the fresh green salad with minimal dressing.

Nice place to hangout with friend for relaxed chit-chats.

Thanks buddy for the treat!

BWB | Burger VS Wings + Bar @ Orchard Central

0 comments
Located at Level 11 of Orchard Central and it has been 2 years since last visit. Read about previous visit here. We were just in time for their Happy Hour where draft beer is on 1-for-1. A pint for $18++ or half pint for $13++.

Kronenbourg Blanc
Since there was just the two of us, we ordered burger and chicken wings. The place was busy as expected on a Friday evening. But its alfresco area was practically empty.

As we were sharing, we had requested for the burger to be cut into halves. Service staff obliged but I do agree with other people who had commented before me, that the presentation of the burger was just plain, uninteresting.

BWB Classic @$21.90++
angus beef patty (medim doneness), egg sunny side-up, tomato, bacon, onions, chili con carne, cheese

For wings, we chose the chili crab flavour. Glad to see that the wings did not shrink over the years, and again, it didn't score any points for the plating. Thankfully, the taste was still good. Messy to eat but enjoyable.

Chili Crab Wings @$15.80++

Expect to pay about $24 per pax for a main course and a beer (after using The Entertainer App).

Sari Ratu Indonesian Food, Authententic Nasi Padang @ 20 Pahang Street

0 comments
Pahang Street is somewhere near Sultan Street and Baghdad Street. Recommended by Indonesian colleagues and hence, we trooped down for lunch. The place was rather small and packed during lunch hour. Found out that reservations can be made in advance.

Left it in the good hands of my colleagues to order. Waiting time for a table took up to 15 minutes. To order, just go right up to the food counter and pick your choices. You'll be given a paper slip with the items ordered. Payment can be made later, after you have had your meal.

teh botol
For drinks, had the Teh Botol Sosro which is a popular Indonesian drink of sweetened jasmine tea in a bottle. It was a huge bottle at 450ml.

rice is served
The mound of rice is of a smaller portion, which is alright considering we ordered up a storm of side dishes.

chicken in gravy (gulai ayam)

The chicken used at Sari Ratu is kampung chicken, so the meat is slightly tougher. The gravy was smooth and nice to eat with the rice.

sambal telor
potato chips

The red and green sambal were rather spicy but so shiok to eat with the rice. The other stuffs that we ordered included telur dadar (omelette), terung balado (spiced egg-plant), ayam pop (steamed and fried chicken) and sayur pucuk ubi (cassava leaves in gravy). All were nice except for the cassava leaves which was quite rough and old. My colleague was also dissappointed in his ayam pop as it didn't taste as good as usual.

little bit of everything, jemput makan~

Our meal costs about $15 per pax. My Indonesian colleagues like this place quite a bit.
