Afternoon Tea @ Pacific Club Lounge Pan Pacific Singapore

Pacific Club Lounge is located at Level 38 of Pan Pacific Singapore, and the room that I was staying was at Level 33. Was greeted by the staff once they caught sight of you walking near the entrance.

For guests staying in Pacific rooms, one could enjoy afternoon tea served from 3pm to 5pm. So off I went, to explore this benefit.

Pacific Club Lounge

Afternoon Tea (for 2 pax)

Once you had made your order for drinks (juices/coffee/tea), the staff would bring out the afternoon tea set automatically. Hmm, I was dining alone but the serving was meant for 2 pax.

breads, cakes and scones

The top-tier of the tray were all the breads/sandwiches. Japanese Egg Sandwich, Charcoal Brioche Bun and Smoked Trout, Nori and Wasabi Mayonnaise Sandwich.

Charcoal Brioche Bun with Corn Kernel, Crab Meat and Japanese Mayonnaise

I liked the Smoked Trout sandwich the most out of this lot.

sweets - Matcha Azuki Monaka, Sudachi Tart, Citrus Raspberry Matcha Entremet

The second tier had a variety of cakes. The least likeable one was the monaka. It was pretty bland, unfortunately.

Moist Chocolate Cake

My favourite cake was the Raspberry Lychee Rose Roulade. Light, not too sweet. So good.

The bottom tier had scones and quiche. The salmon quiche was nice. I was stuffed by the time I got to the scones.

Blueberry Scone with Clotted Cream and Apricot Jam, Salmon Quiche

Salmon Quiche with Ikura

Quite liked that the set was alternating between savories and sweets.

final bite

Feeling curious, I enquired from the staff if the by default they'd be serving a 2-pax afternoon tea set even to a solo guest, and the response was affirmative. Just note that guests are not allowed to pack the leftovers, if any.

end with a flat white

It was an amusing afternoon tea experience, and feeling stuffed thereafter. Dinner, was not necessary after all.

Arteastiq Bistro @ Plaza Singapura

The girls suggested to have high tea and Arteastiq was chosen as the venue. This time round, we visited the one at Plaza Singapura. It has been ages since I last dined at Plaza Singapura!

To start, we shared a salad that has quite a sizeable mound of burrata in it. Tasted sweet (probably from the honey mustard or sweet potato?). Quite nice.

Spinach and Sweet Potato Salad @$15++ (plushie not included)
creamy burrata

Got ourselves a "Signature Teasery" set that is meant for 2 pax to share. It comes with 2 specialty tea. We chose Pomelo Tea (hot) and Lychee Tea (iced).

Pomelo Tea (front) and Lychee Tea (back)

Signature Teasery for 2 (@$48++)

The best item from the savoury would be the Tortilla with Smoked Duck. Next was the Vol au Vent  with its delectable puff.n The foie gras terrine on toast with yuzu marmalade was overpowered by the sweetness. Hmm, for a moment, I thought I was having dessert already.

Smoked Salmon with cream cheese mousse, Tortilla with smoked duck breast, Vol au Vent with mushrooms capers pate, Foie Gras Terrine on Toast, Yuzu Marmalade, and Crushed Pistachio

Double Raspberry Choux Pastry, Chocolate Cone with Banana Custard, Chocolate Truffles with Nut, Macarons

The raspberry choux bursts out easily when it was pressed. Thick jam in it. Did not try the rest.

Thank you Tiara for making the reservations. An afternoon with Tiara, Shermaine and Kris.

Anti:dote Afternoon Tea @ Anti:dote Lounge Fairmont Singapore

Have always known Anti:dote as a place for cocktails, but it is also a place where one could also enjoy an afternoon of indulgence with Anti:dote Afternoon Tea available everyday from Mondays to Thursdays 3pm to 5pm, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays will see two seatings; 12pm to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm Priced at $48++ per adult. You will get to choose a starter from two choices (either dim sum or the organic egg), a pot of tea of your choice and a drawer containing savouries and sweets. Top up $15++ for a glass of champagne.

The place is within Fairmont Singapore, just right next to City Hall MRT. So convenient. Went on a Saturday evening and the place was rather busy. Reservation is recommended.

choose your tea

TWG tea is used here. The selections include the popular "Holiday in Paris", "The Bellini" or "Pink Flamingo". Had a taste of those three blends and it was rather floral and sweetish scent. And, guess what I had? The classic French Earl Grey. Ok, I know. Am boring.

Anti:dote Organic Egg
dim sum - scallop siew mai, fried beancurd with fish paste and carrot cake

For the starters, my choice was very clear. The Anti:dote organic eggs. Firm egg custard topped with caviar, ikura and sea urchin. Yums. Would I exchange this for the dim sum? Absolutely not.

Due to the size of our group, many drawers were brought out. Each one gets to share a drawer with his/her favourite person. At max, a drawer holds enough items for 3 pax to share.

So, we scrutinized the drawers. Starting from the bottom. Oh, we found plastic-wrapped crackers and some homemade raspberry jam, lemon curd and Devonshire clotted cream.

cracker and sweet spreads - homemade raspberry jam, lemon curd and clotted cream

Somehow, just by saying Devonshire is getting me into the mood... for scones! Oh my, the parmesan scones was just the perfect item for the afternoon tea. Spread generously with clotted cream and lemon curd, and pop a bite into the mouth. So good. The jam and lemon curd were both very good. Just have it with all three. Triple the enjoyment!

peek-a-boo (chia seed and parmesan scones)

And, before you know it...the scones were polished off, completely.

polished

The second drawer had the savoury items. You will find the Boston Maine Lobster mini-roll in here. The wild mushroom stuffed puff pastry was quite good as well. After the second drawer, suddenly it dawned upon me that there was seriously a bit too many items with caviar and ikura.

savouries
smoked salmon, lemon cheese, ikura
duck confit, foie gras terrine

Only about 5 small items for the savoury but was starting to feel full by now. But, there was one more layer left to conquer. The sweets. About 10 pieces of petit desserts. I like the sound of it. Petit.

petit desserts

mini strawberry cake, vanilla chiboust

The mini strawberry cake was the cutest looking. Reminded me of a ladybird. Haha! Thought it tasted somewhat like a marshmallow~

tuxedo strawberry

The chocolate coated fresh strawberry was another favourite of mine. The chocolate praline was enjoyable as well. One thing that I really didn't like was the pistachio layer, smoked tea cream dessert. No thanks.

traditional Paris Brest
Green Apple Tartlet

Most said they liked the green apple tartlet except me. But it did intrigued me as I couldn't figure out what was the fruit that sat ontop of the green apple. Looking like a grape but the taste was far from it.

Come early, at 3pm to enjoy the afternoon tea in as leisurely manner as possible. Sip and savour. Enjoy.

Tea Lounge @ The Regent Hotel

Located at the Regent Hotel at Cuscaden Road. If you are walking from Orchard MRT, head towards Wheelock and then towards Hilton Hotel until you come towards a small road at the Forum. I was a bit lost there, so I asked the security uncle the location of Regent Hotel. He said alot of people had asked him the same question. Hahaa!

On weekdays 12-5pm, they have the English Afternoon Tea set @$36++ per pax. Can choose 2 drinks; for example free flow of coffee and one flavour of tea, or two flavors of tea with refillable hot water. There are about 12 selections of tea flavours to choose from. If you are not into coffee nor tea, then there is the last option of chocolate (hot/cold) drink.

menu

teacup with strainer
tea room blend

Tried the tea room blend and afternoon darjeeling. These flavours sits well with conservative tea drinker like me. Not too exotic. There is one really smoky flavoured leaves from China with name that is too funky for me to remember! The rose flavoured was really fragrant and nice too.

coffee
sugar cubes

We sipped tea and chit-chatted while waited for the finger sandwiches.

finger sandwiches

roast beef horseradish sandwich (right)
roast beef

The roast beef finger sandwich has a certain pungent smell to it (probably from horseradish?). An acquired taste.

guessed this is the free range chicken on brioche?
smoked salmon on sunflower bread
organic egg mayo
is this the McLelland smoked cheddar cheese on the right?

The best tasting finger sandwich, I felt was the brown colored bread (soft) with cheese (McLelland smoked cheddar?). Nice and yummy. All in all, the finger sandwiches were quite 'dry'. And looks can be deceptive. After that plate of petite looking finger sandwiches, I felt the tummy filling up fast, especially when combined with two cups of hot tea.

After the finger sandwiches, out came the 3-tiered pastries. It was really pretty to look at. Somehow it lends to the atmosphere of a 'proper' English afternoon tea.

3-tiered pastries

First tier, was the scones. Plain and raisin scones. Scones with jam, lemon curd and clotted cream. The best combination ever!

scones
clotted cream

lemon curd

strawberry preserve
yummy!

Devonshire clotted cream (should be quite high in fats content!) gave the scones a smooth and creamy bite while the strawberry preserve or lemon curd added a touch of sweetness to the buttery coarseness.

a bite of scone, a sip of tea

Second tier was the savouries. By now, the pace is definitely slowing down.

savouries
crispy pastry (cheese straw)
sausage pastry

pie
mushroom spinach quiche

cross section of quiche

I liked the pie on this savoury plate, while most of the people in the group preferred the quiche. After having our fill on the savouries, we were all quite stuffed. Before starting on the sweets, we had our pot of tea changed to a different flavour.

sweets
am quite tickled by this dessert, looks like a smiley face with sunglasses
sour alert!
is that a flower petal?
nice mousse like dessert with berry
chocolate truffle

madeleine (didn't like this, as it didn't taste fresh)
raspberry coconut delice

The service crew were friendly and obliged with hot water refills, more clotted cream and preserves. We spent a leisurely two hours or so at the lounge. An indulgence indeed.

We paid $34 per pax as there was a UOB credit card promotion.
