The House of Robert Timms @ Wheelock Place (Part III)

0 comments
Had dinner there on a Thursday evening.

menu
We came as a group of three, and ordered some starters and a main to share.

Spinach and Mushroom Salad (@$14++)
mushroom, pine nuts, bacon, cheese and baby spinach

The salad came with a small bowl of dressing that was bacon oil with balsamic vinegar. Oily aftertaste that's similar to bak kwa. It's an either you-love-it or hate-it affair. The bacon wasn't crispy. Having salad with bacon oil, seems somewhat defeating the purpose of a healthier choice, doesn't it?

Mussels (@$19.50++)

For the mussels, one can choose the choice of sauce and we had the chili base. Quite liked this dish as the mussels were of a good size and the bread was crispy.

Had BBQ buffalo wings (@$12.50++) as well, but it was kind of tough.

Barramundi with Cilantro (@$26.50++)

The barramundi was nicely thick and sat ontop a bed of mash. But the mash wasn't smooth and creamy. It was actually kinda dry and somewhat lumpy. Liked the greens, the tomatoes and of course, the fish. The flesh was firm and easy to eat.

Saintmarc Café @ Vivocity

This shop's name has many variations: St. Marc, St-Marc, Saint Marc, Saintmarc...Whichever way it is, it's still famed for its choco cro which is basically a chocolate croissant.

ready for some sweet & bitter?
Mochi Red Bean Choco Cro @$2.60
outer layer flaky, inner later mochi and core of luscious choco with red bean
chewy sweety yums

Also tried the Sandwich, Choco Cro and Coffee Set (@$8.90).

Didn't like the coffee as the milk taste was too strong for me. The Teriyaki Chicken and Vegetable Sandwich, is exactly one portion of teriyaki chicken with lettuce, and the other portion is entirely lettuce, tomato and cheese. Normal at best.

The Mochi Red Bean Choco Cro was really nice. More layers in texture. Chewy and flaky, and with luscious center. Preferred this over the normal choco cro. The mochi version is priced at 20cents higher than normal choco cro.

Fukuichi Japanese Dining @ TripleOne Somerset (Part III)

0 comments
Had dinner there recently. It was warm dining inside, hardly any air-conditioning felt.

menu
Ordered a bento set, and ala-carte of kani tofu and kani karaage (deep fried soft shell crab).

kani tofu (century egg, tofu and crab) @$6++

Some parts of the bento arrived first; the salad and the appetiser.

salad of lettuce and shredded cabbage
jellyfish
half the bento

full bento set (exclude soft-shell crab) @$40++

It was rather peculiar, as we got only half the bento and the next half arrived like 17 minutes later...

sushi (part of bento set)
sashimi of salmon, tuna and prawn (part of bento set)

 The soft-shell crab portion looked much less than previous.

kani karaage (@$10++)

Dessert was mochi with red bean plum. It's an interesting dessert. First time having this, and served in iced-small dish. Thought it was ice-cream at first. Hehe. Not sure whether it was mochi or a daifuku. There's a bit of cream inside.

dessert
powdery red bean, plum and cream mochi

Dinner costs around $67 for two pax.
