Antoinette @ Mandarin Gallery Orchard

Located at Level 2 of Mandarin Gallery. One could take the outdoor escalator up or via the lift, which may take forever to arrive.

Was there on a Friday evening, for a late dinner. Food choice was an all-day breakfast of Classic Eggs Florentine, with a cup of Cafe Viennois. Such decadence.

Was actually pretty cold inside especially if it had rained earlier. Brrr~

Classic eggs Florentine @$16.50++
perfectly runny poached egg

Eggs Florentine came with two beautifully poached eggs, drizzled with ample Hollandaise sauce and sitting atop of plenty of salty serrano ham with some wilted spinach (also salty!). Brioche was thick but a tad too browned/burnt?

Cafe Viennois with chantilly cream @$6.80++

Do let the staff know if you prefer the coffee to be served later as by default, they will bring it to the table along with your dinner.

Colleagues ordered some desserts to go along with their tea.

The younger service crew was pretty friendly.

Expect to spend between $20 to $30 for a desserts or for a meal here.

Bugis Junction Food Trail 2013: nydc

nydc (or New York Dessert Cafe), was where my friends made me feed mudpie to a stranger, a random guy. That was for a birthday dare. Hahaa, those memories...

Fast forward to April 2013, nydc was our sixth stop of the Bugis Junction Food Trail.  Located at Level 2, we were ushered into the insides of the cafe which was rather cosy.

Let's start off with some cakes.

Goldmine cheesecake (full size @$68)
Goldmine Cheesecake (@$7.20 per slice)
Boo Boo (@$6.80 per slice / $62 whole)

The Goldmine Cheesecake (New York cheesecake) was compact and dense and loved the choco fudge ontop, while the Boo Boo (chocolate cake) was airy with lots of cream. Good thing all the cakes were not overly sweet. Very nice with a cup of coffee.

Next up, how about having a ménage à trois? What's this proposition! Hahaha, relax. Have a 3-some, a strawberry mudpie where 3 layers of choco chip cookie dough are sandwiched between strawberry, strawberry cheesecake icecream and graham crackers.

3-some (@$11.80 per slice)

Or, may the sweets be with you via the Jedi Mudster, a double choc chip macadamia nut ice-cream on oreo base with homemade cookie chunks, topped with choc fudge and whiped cream.

Jedi Mudster (@$11.80 per slice)

All mudpies should be savoured last! Loved the cold ice, and the sweet sensations that attacks all at once. The bliss.

To further tempt you, scan the QR code below for e-voucher to get 50% off 2nd main course! Promo ends 20 April, so hurry!

Plan b. @ Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

Located at the ground floor of Mid Valley Megamall, this is one cosy looking cafe. Visited on a Friday noon around 1pm and it was crowded. It prides itself as having a modern Aussie-meets-New York deli menu.

Plan b.
One can have wholeday breakfast here. Think toast with egg, Eggs Benny, Breakfast Platter etc with prices ranging from RM8++ till RM26++. Gourmet sandwiches such as ox tongue sandwich? No problem, available here. Salads? Sure. Mains include beef steak, chicken and fish. Had a quick glimpse at the prices of mains. Expect to pay RM40++ for braised chicken and RM55++ for steak. Saw some patrons having Prime Beef Pie (@RM23++).

plain water is available here

Wasn't feeling very hungry so ordered a red velvet cake and a latte.

red velvet cake (@RM10++)
latte (@RM8++) without latte art

The cake was quite bouncy, but would've preferred if it has some cream cheese in between the layers. Liked that it wasn't too sweet. The coffee was smooth and mild.

Melaka: Nadeje @ Plaza Mahkota

Walked past this shop, so went in for cake and coffee. If dining in, then just go up to the cake counter to choose the cake and then the service staff will show you to your table. Then, peruse the drinks menu and make your choice.

Ordered the Original Mille Crepe, and a cup of Melaka Latte.

Melaka Latte
The Melaka Latte was rather thick. Made a mistake of dumping in a stick of sugar before tasting. Ended up with a slightly too sweet version than preferred. Forgotten that this coffee already had palm sugar syrup in it. And that contribute to its distinct taste.

Original Mille Crepe (@RM9)
many layers

cream
such thin layers

Liked the cake. Not too sweet, and tasted moist, creamy and light. Yums.

One of their staff, a Mr Shahrukh Khan (he mentioned that his name is the similar to the Bollywood superstar) said that the owner of the shop is a Japanese lady and that Nadeje in Czech, means "Hope".

Awfully Chocolate @ Vivocity

Located at Level 1 of Vivocity. Had a craving for chocolate cake and was in the viccinity, so decided to drop-by. Its super stacked cake was listed at $6.50 per 100 gms. Ok, so proceeded to order for 100 gms of super stacked.

Was actually quite surprised when the girl suddenly squatted down and got a slice out from the cabinet below the display counter. The display counter had a perfect square of a new super stacked so presumably she was clearing the old stock. Maybe the impression would've been better if she could just take the tray out and take that slice in clear view.

Then, she proceeded to put that slice of cake into a box. Alas, that poor slice of cake was unceremoniously dumped into the box and it was laying there in an odd manner as it could not quite fit into it. Such a sad treatment for such a beautiful slice of cake. Wouldn't have minded if the girl had cut the slice into half so that it can be placed nicely into the box...

Never mind. Next, she proceeded to weigh the cake together with the box. On the receipt, the weight of the cake was listed as 130 gms. Just wondering if that included the weight of the box or not? If the weight of an empty box is say for example 20 gms, then it would've meant that the customer paid $1.30 for the box.

nice sticker
super stacked cake
nice plastic fork
poor cake was in this position
super stacked closer view

The super stacked cake was nice (mildly sweet, though not as rich/moist as imagined), but does it warrant the $8.45 price tag? That'll be up to you to decide.
