Bugis+ Food Trail 2013: Seoul Yummy

0 comments
The seventh food stop for that day. This restaurant has an open-air concept.

annyeong haseyo~

While waiting for the main dish to arrive, let's have some side-dishes first!

peanuts, kimchi, beancurd shreds, tofu, anchovies (rather salty) and spinach

If still feeling peckish, why not have some starters; tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and kimchi pancake.

spicy rice cake (@$6.90++)
kimchi pancake (@$6.90++)

The thin kimchi pancake was rather enjoyable. Not that spicy as compared to tteokbokk. If you're like me, and don't fancy that much carbs, how about some meat? Braised pork belly with kimchi, to be precise.

braised pork belly (@$8.90++)

Loved the braised pork belly. Fatty and tender. Simple dish. Yums. Another dish that we got to try, was the samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup).

ginseng chicken soup (@$24.90++ for whole chicken or $15.90++ for half)

The soup was simple, flavourful and adequately salted but the best part, would be the glutinous rice inside.

Next, the highlight of the table. Army stew! There are two types; assorted meat (including spam or luncheon meat!) or seafood. In it, one can find ramyun and rice cakes as well, besides an assortment of vegetables and tofu. Eat already sure filling!

The seafood stew was shiokingly nice! Spicy with a kick and full of umami. Nyam nyam! The stew's portion would be good enough to feed 3 pax, I think.

If you intend to dine there, do enquire about their set meal promotions (if applicable):

Set Meal for Two Promo (@$49.90++)
  • two Korean roasted barley tea
  • one choice of army's stew
  • assorted popular side dishes
  • two multi-grains rice
  • one choice of appetiser
  • one choice of dessert

Bugis+ Food Trail 2013: Manhattan Fish Market

Can you believe it? My first time trying Manhattan Fish Market!

menu
decor and table setting
good for large group dining

The cool green drink was citrus mint. Tasted refreshing, a tinkling like mojito ice-blended, without the alcohol.

citrus mint (@$5.50++)
fried country mushrooms (@$7.95++)
caesar salad with crispy white bait (@$7.50++, plus $3++ add-on for whitebaits)
garlic herb mussels, served with crispy baguette (@$7.95++)

The crispy whitebaits on the caesar salad were indeed very very crispy!

Then, we sampled two types of mains; the Manhattan Fish N' Chips and the Flaming Seafood Platter.

fish & chips (~ depending on fish, prices range from $11.95++ to $14.95++ for regular sized)

Get the Flaming platter. Nice to watch and nice to eat!

ta-dah~ Flaming Seafood Platter (@$37.95++)

The torched cheese goes so well with the rice!

When we thought there was no more, out came our desserts. The Sizzling Brownie with Ice-Cream.

watch the sauce as it trickles downwards onto the hot skillet
Sizzling Brownie with Ice-Cream (@$9.90++)

Soft brownie, hot sauce and cold ice-cream equals yumsss! Good things must share!

They have four types of soups; kimchi, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki and soy miso. All soups were already flavourful from the start!

table transformed! Full of goodies~

The meats in the middle of the table is from the planned premium cuts (wagyu beef and pork collar) which may not be available currently.
