[Travel] Roaming Around Petaling Street @ Chinatown Kuala Lumpur

As usual, we had a short staycation in the vicinity of Petaling Street. Here's some photos of what we did there.

Breakfast at Tang City Food Court

Drinks

Staff from the drinks stall would likely be the first contact with all diners. They'd come to your table to ask what you'd like to drink. Service was brisk and efficient. Do prepare the small change to pay when the drinks are served.

Lucky Soup Famous Wanton Mee

Hmm, nope I do not know whether it is famous or not, but wanton noodles is quite the quintessential breakfast choice. Stall staff has quite the fierce resting face but hey, I'm just here to order some plates...

The char siew from the stall was tough, so no need to order extra portion. The roast pork fared better and not sure if they got it from the chicken rice/roast meat shop next door. The char siew at the chicken rice stall (next to this noodle stall) was much much better.

The average base price for noodle dish in this food court starts from RM11. Not sure if it is normal price or CNY price as I've only been there during CNY period.

Dim Sum

My dad, who has difficulty in chewing since he is now on dentures, opted for dim sum. The price of per dim sum plate was RM8.

Kiew Yee Beef Noodles

Was happy to see my favourite stall open during this visit. Had to order a bowl to satisfy the cravings. If you're not into beef, they do have fish head bee hoon as alternative though I've never tried that yet.

Mixed part noodle soup for me. Noodles of choice; horfun. Place order to the lady manning the stall and she was friendly and patient.

Clear broth and flavourful, and tender meats. Yums.

Fishball Noodles

Mom's choice tasted healthy. Ingredients were plentiful though and stall staff was friendly.

Bak Kut Teh

The most expensive dish per pax in the food court would be bak kut teh at RM24 per pot with white rice.

The soup was fine but the pork was super tough. Will skip this.

Teashop

There are plenty of teashops in the area, so we went into the one that my sis usually visits. The were two staff in the shop and we took our time browsing the various tea leaves available in the shop. Staff was helpful and tries to respond to all my queries.

Saw that they had a small area for tea tasting hence, enquired if that was available. We chose a tea leave that we would like to try and staff kindly made it for us.

Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff. Eventually, we did buy some tea leaves to bring home.

Coffee Break

Yew Yew Coffee

Not sure what the fuss was about, so drop by to have a look. This cafe was a few steps away from the hotel. Small and cosy place.

Leaf & Co

My friends dropped by, so we decided to meet at Leaf & Co. We've been to Mingles (which was nearby) and decided to try this place instead.

Hmm, the coconut coffee latte was different from what I'm used to. The ice-cream cake was ok but the carrot cake was nice. 

Side Note

We grabbed some fast food one of the evening, and finally I managed to try nasi lemak. Pretty good I must say. Sambal and rice were nice.
