[Media Invite] XBox Showcase 2016

Microsoft has announced the arrival of the Xbox One S Gears of War Limited Edition 2 TB Bundle that will be coming to Singapore on 25 November 2016. Crimson red in colour and designed as if it came right out of the game with a battle-weathered console chassis, bloody thumbprints on the controller red metallic D-pad. How's that for a close encounter of the ultimate Gears of War 4 experience? Brings a smile to the face.

Was invited for a preview on the games as well. It has been a while since I played any console games. Hope I didn't embarrass myself in front of the hardcore gamers. Oops.

coming to SG on 11 Oct
woOhOOo!
Tried it on a XBox One S white and the experience was all good. Yay to the HDR quality and the fluid movements in the game. Tactile feedback on the console was good and the hints from the game was adequate for a newbie to move around and to complete the mission.

Other games available for XBox One and Windows 10 include Forza Horizon 3, Dead Rising 4, ReCore, Scalebound and Halo Wars 2. Gamers can now buy one game and enjoy it on XBox or on PC with Windows 10.

ReCore is an action-adventure set in the futuristic world of spacecraft and sand dunes. The protagonist is Joule and her friends are robots. ReCore was created by Keiji Inafune of Metroid Prime fame.

ReCore will be available from 13 September 2016
In ReCore mission, there were specific actions that the gamer needed to do. Was so troublesome...the event helper that was standing behind me couldn't stand it anymore and decided to just show me how to do it. Hahaha! Other than that, the character's movements were very good and can even scale the wall. So cool!

If you are into more gore, then Dead Rising 4 might be your kind of game. Zombies, everywhere. Blood, everywhere. Anything and everything, can be a weapon. It has a rating of M18, so you know.

The protagonist is Frank West, and the trailer was quite amusing. You can watch it in YouTube. Mayhem is the theme and of course, zombie slaying.

#frankieisback

What can I say? I started with Frank with lots of swag, and heaving a big hammer which was used to the max in a melee, then a baseball bat which was quite good but all gone too soon. I think it was used till they broke! Then, I had some cannister of sorts which spewed fire when I managed to figure out how to throw it to the zombies. Ended up with Frank having to box his way out of the hordes and hordes of zombies...am so sorry Frank! Had a gun in the inventory list but couldn't figure it out how to switch to that. Faints. Haaha!
Dead Rising 4 coming to SG in December.

If you are purely in for the speed, then the racing game Forza Horizon 3 features stunning Australian skyline and beaches.

let's race along the beach

Happy Gaming!

Thank you Microsoft and Diandra for the invite.

For all Singtel mobile subscribers out there, here is another option for you to enjoy entertainment on-the-go. On 7 July 2016, Singtel has launched Cast, Singapore's first OTT video portal app. According to wikipedia, OTT (Over-The-Top) is the delivery of audio, video, and other media over the Internet without the involvement of a multiple-system operator in the control or distribution of the content.

What is the subscription cost like?
Singtlel Mobile postpaid customers can choose from various content packs such as Kids, Asian Hits, Hallyu content packs for just $4.90/month with 12-months contract or $6.90 per pack without contract.

What about data as watching streamed content on the go means more data is required?
No worries, just add on +$3 per month for an extra 1GB of data.

Where or how do I sign up?

Got to know about this app and service at an event recently. It was held at The Arts House and the theme was Hallyu Night. Always wanted that latest Korean drama streamed right to your mobile device with unlimited download, priority viewing with Chinese and English subtitles as fast as eight hours after original telecast, full HD and uninterrupted viewing? Then you'll need Cast and Viu premium service. Just $7.90 per month (with 1GB data bundle).

We enjoyed the Korean inspired dinner by Timbre and was entertained by Kelly Poon, who sang for us the theme song from DOTS (Descendent Of The Sun). One of my favourites when she was in Project Superstar.

Had some fun (and easy to play) games and prizes like Korean snacks and facial masks were distributed to the winning teams.

Oppo was one of the sponsors, hence there was a short showcase on its phone. The phone was slim and light, and it has a 16MP front camera and 13MP back camera. Its size is slighly bigger than my Samsung S6.

Thank you Darryn and Team for the invite. It was informative and fun!

Recently, I was introduced to Singtel TV GO! at an event held at Elements & Co. First thing that came mind was, "What is Singtel TV Go?" It is basically a free-to-download mobile app developed to enhance the experience of Singtel TV subscribers by providing the option to view their favourite Programmes on-the-go.

So, how does this works?
This FAQ would be able to provide the answers: http://singteltv.com.sg/_pdf/singteltvgo-faqs.pdf

Ok, I have an understanding of how it works. Then, how much does this cost?

There was an opportunity to experience this app for a limited time, so here's how it went:

download app
quick guide during first launch of the app

It was easy to install and you'll get to see all that's available to the subscriber. I was most interested in the TV Guide section. Upon selecting the show of interest, you'll be prompted to enter the account ID and Singtel TV number. Key in the necessary details and you'll be able to watch the show in a jiffy.

Elementary, my dear

Just need to download the episodes and click on 'Play' to watch it, anytime, anywhere.

hi Lucy
And, of course, there's programmes about food. Yums.

For music lovers, you can enjoy a 24-hours music channel via the launch of MTV Live (CH349) and MTV China (CH550) on Singtel TV.

And, for soccer fans, Singtel TV has secured broadcast rights for UEFA Euro 2016 as well as Copa America 2016, and you can catch all matches on CH142 and CH141 through the Singtel TV GO application. Yay!
